Anchored by the theme “Technology That Builds the Future,” Schaeffler’s display focuses on advancements that address autonomy and efficiency – key drivers of transformation within the construction industry.
With contractors and fleet owners facing persistent labor constraints, tighter schedules and rising expectations for safety and sustainability, the construction industry is accelerating adoption of automation-ready equipment, electrified powertrains and data-enabled machines. Industry trends point to increases in advanced driver assistance, machine control and electrification, especially in high-utilization applications where efficiency gains and reduced downtime are critical.
“We are excited to demonstrate how Schaeffler’s motion technologies are driving both autonomy and efficiency for the construction sector,” said Brian Kreifels, Schaeffler division vice president for Industrial Bearings in the Americas. “With the pressures facing construction today – from rising productivity expectations to stricter sustainability mandates – Schaeffler’s advanced products and innovative solutions are empowering our customers to maximize productivity, efficiency and uptime, while meeting ambitious targets for safety and sustainability.”
With the integration of Vitesco Technologies complete, Schaeffler has significantly expanded its capabilities and expertise in electronics, software and sensor technologies, complementing its core mechanical and mechatronic expertise. This enables the company to deliver a broader range of solutions for intelligent, efficient construction equipment that will be shown at its exhibit.
Advancing Autonomy with Mechatronics, Sensors and Actuators
With the construction industry projected to need 349,000 additional skilled laborers in 2026 in the U.S. alone (source: Associated Builders & Contractors) Schaeffler’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 display addresses this need with pivotal advancements for autonomous and digitally connected construction equipment, organized around two main pillars: Mechatronics/Sensor Solutions and Electromechanical Actuators.
Mechatronics and Sensor Solutions
Outfitting construction equipment with the latest sensor technologies enables efficiency, resource conservation and emissions measurement, critical capabilities for addressing both labor constraints and environmental compliance. As the industry pivots to data-driven, intelligent machinery, Schaeffler is spotlighting an expansive portfolio of sensors designed specifically for mobile machinery, including:
- Cooling system sensors: Schaeffler’s Air Control Valve 12 and Mass Air Flow Sensor deliver precise control and optimized engine air management to increase machine efficiency.
- Exhaust system sensors: Schaeffler’s advanced High-Temperature Sensors, NOx Sensors, and Differential Pressure Sensors help ensure accurate emissions measurement and regulatory compliance.
- Powertrain sensors: Schaeffler’s Torque Measurement Sensor and Ultrasonic Oil Level Sensor enable integrated and reliable powertrain management to reduce maintenance requirements and extend equipment life.
Electromechanical Actuators
Schaeffler’s electromechanical actuator technologies eliminate the need for hydraulics, enabling precise, energy-efficient motion for intelligent, emissions-free construction equipment. Reduced leakage risk, simplified maintenance and higher controllability directly support autonomy, safety and total cost of ownership goals. Key solutions on display at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 include:
- Ewellix CAHB-2xS Linear Actuator: Featuring the ability to handle up to 10 kN of force and speeds up to 55 mm/s, this smart actuator offers absolute position feedback and status monitoring along with synchronization capability and CAN bus integration.
- Front Loader Display: A fully functional demo integrating Schaeffler’s Ewellix CAHB-2xS actuators that take over the electric locking of the quick attach system, while CASM-series actuators perform lifting and tilting functions, showcasing precise, repeatable motion for operator-assist functions.
- Ewellix EMA-80 3-Ton Electromechanical Actuator: Featuring a compact, modular and fully electric (oil-free) design, this actuator delivers high power density and energy efficiency for heavy lifting applications.
- High-Torque Electromechanical Rotary Actuator: Engineered to replace hydraulic rotary actuators, this electromechanical solution features outstanding durability, repeatable position control and programmability, as well as maintenance-free performance in an oil-free design.
Maximizing Efficiency: Electric Drives, Bearings and Valve Train Innovations
Addressing the construction industry's dual challenge of rising fuel costs and stringent emissions regulations, while maintaining durability construction fleets require, Schaeffler is showcasing an expanded lineup of high-performance components engineered for next-generation electrified construction and off-road vehicles at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.
Electric Drive Solutions
Electric motors for drive and hybrid applications used in construction machinery support the emissions-free operation of equipment – in urban construction sites, for example – and help OEMs reach their sustainability targets. Key electric drive solutions on display at CONEXPO/CON-AGG include:
- Electric Motors: Schaeffler’s new family of high-performance, heavy-duty electric motors empower construction sites to achieve emissions-free operation. In-house developed for maximum efficiency and reliability, these motors are available in 110 kW, 210 kW and 220 kW continuous outputs (with peak outputs of 140 kW, 290 kW and 310 kW, respectively). Their oil-cooled, compact and scalable design allows them to be used as a traction drive, a supporting drive (in hybrid applications), or as a drive solution for auxiliary systems.
- Heavy-Duty E-Axle: A modular, fully integrated electric drive (built around an 800 V architecture) for trucks and buses, this e-axle combines traction motors, transmission, differential, and silicon-carbide power electronics in a single axle package.
- Advanced Bearing Solutions for E-Motors: Schaeffler bearings that are engineered to handle the demands of high-speed, high-voltage electric machines, including special designs for electric motors that can prevent damage caused by stray electric current.
Bearing and Valve Train Solutions
Engineered to optimize friction and reduce energy consumption in every powertrain and machine configuration, Schaeffler’s high-performance bearing and valve train solutions on display at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 help improve reliability, uptime, and service life.
- Tapered X-life Roller Bearings: Delivering up to 25% higher dynamic load ratings and 75% lower friction vs. standard designs, directly addressing demand for improved energy efficiency and reduced maintenance.
- NJ23-ILR Cylindrical Roller Bearing: Offering twice the operating life and industry-leading load ratings for off-road applications.
- iFlexAir: A fully variable, electrohydraulic intake valve lift control that is easily integrated into multiple engine architectures.
- iRockAir: A switchable, two-step rocker arm system for cylinder deactivation that can significantly cut CO2 emissions without sacrificing performance.
