FAG transmission bearings in the Zermatt rack railway

The former Brig-Visp-Zermattbahn (BVZ), now known as the Matterhorn-Gotthardbahn (MG-Bahn) placed an order in 2000 with Stadler Bussnang AG for this locomotive for service on adhesion and rack routes.

The locomotive is used for service trains for construction and contact-wire maintenance, clearing snow and for emergencies in the event of power failures. The locomotive is used on the Gornergratbahn routes up to an elevation of 3,000 meters above sea level, negotiating gradients as steep as 200%.

FAG supplied all rolling bearings for the wheelset drives.
