Barden – a premium brand for high quality and super-precision when it comes to rolling bearings.
Barden Precision Ball Bearings
Barden was founded in the USA in 1942. The company has been owned by FAG since 1991 and, therefore, became part of the Schaeffler Group in 2001. Barden is a premium brand for high quality and super-precision when it comes to rolling bearings. The company has been manufacturing high-precision bearings at its plants in the USA and Great Britain for over sixty years. Barden bearings are used in aviation and aerospace as well as in the dental and X-ray technology. All Barden bearings – from 3 to 300 mm outside diameter – are assembled under clean-room conditions.
In the aviation and aerospace industry, FAG and its affiliate “The Barden Corporation” are known worldwide as leading manufacturers of high-precision bearings for power units in aircraft, helicopter and aerospace applications. Nearly all modern passenger aircraft use bearing technology from Barden and FAG – it is used, for example, in the engines of the new A380 wide-body aircraft. The European launch vehicle Ariane and the space shuttle also rely on solutions from Barden and FAG.
In medical technology, products from the Barden brand are first choice for advanced X-ray and scanner applications: constructed for high temperatures and use in a high vacuum environment, Barden bearings are an important component of high-speed X-ray tubes. Barden X-ray bearing units enable scans with the highest resolution.
Barden dental ball bearings offer high speed in miniature with limiting speeds up to 500,000 rpm. These bearings also have the advantages of quiet running and long life – even with repeated sterilization.
