FAG Standard AN55 Test Rig for Wheelset Bearings
The AN55 has a simpler design in comparison to the AN46 universal test stand. It offers cost-effective testing in cases where long-distance travel is not simulated and where air stream simulation of up to 10 meters/second is sufficient. The test stand is operated with a constant radial load and changing axial load and provides measurement results for radial and axial loads, temperature, shaft speed and noise.
Again, the AN55 test stand means that FAG has the expertise to carry out tests for “performance testing for wheelset bearings – railway applications” in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2000, certified by DAP (German Accreditation System for Testing).
In addition, the AN55D test stand is used to check whether the wheelset bearings are impermeable to water spray (required in the UIC standard 515-5 O). The test involves spraying the wheelset continuously with water both while standing still and when simulating various transportation speeds. No water should permeate the bearing after the various stages of the test.
