By using the AN46 test stand, INA and FAG can simulate entire line profiles and therefore analyze the impacts of all significant influencing factors on the axlebox bearings.
Double-row tapered roller bearings or cylindrical roller bearings in their original housings are mainly tested. The operating temperature and the grease service life reached are the fundamental test criteria for the axlebox bearings. Due to the fact that the cooling of the axlebox bearing housing and therefore the housing caused by air flow has a considerable effect on the grease service life, the AN46 test stand was fitted with an air flow simulator that can create windspeeds of up to 180 km/h. Additional structure-borne sound monitoring detects possible damage during operation and provides information about lubrication.
After the tests are complete, the bearings and their components are checked in detail.
The AN46 test stand means that FAG has the expertise to carry out tests for “performance testing for axlebox bearings – railway applications” in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2000, certified by DAP (German Accreditation System for Testing).
