Screw cappers are used for a wide range of bottles made of glass or plastic, for example for wine bottles, fruit juice, soft drinks or water. The vertical stroke movements of the individual capping heads are controlled by cam plates. Typical INA products for this application are yoke and stud type track rollers of series KR or PWTR. The trend here is towards maintenance-free solutions that do not require relubrication and that are resistant to corrosion if they come into contact with cleaning agents.
The Schaeffler Group has a wide range of solutions for these requirements. This includes the special coating Corrotect®, which offers highly-effective anti-corrosion protection, the Triondur® coating systems that are extremely resistant to wear and the new high-performance steel Cronitect.
The bearings themselves must fulfill high demands in terms of resistance to corrosion and wear in the bottle capper machine. Ball bearings and double-row angular contact ball bearings are used here. One major challenge are effective seals in the presence of water on the vertical axis of rotation.
The obvious choice in this case is the high-performance corrosion-resistant steel Cronitect in conjunction with ceramic balls due to its high resistance to wear and media.
